Day Eleven: ANCHORAGE, ALASKA!!!

We were so happy to have hot showers at the cabin where we stayed in Tok, Alaska. We were finally well-rested and super excited about our last day of driving, which was only for 6 hours. Although our journey thus far has been an awesome experience, we were tired of driving... and sleeping in the car or tent.
Our 450 mile drive wasn't that bad. The further north we went, the more snow we saw on the mountains.

We pulled over to get some photos of some mountains, but got in a snow ball fight instead. He hit me in the face, but I got him back. It was fun =)

5,067 miles later, we finally made it to our new home in Anchorage.

We met our new roommate, Melanie, who we had been talking to via Facebook the past few months. She's awesome. I don't have any photos of her yet, but we're going out this weekend so I'm sure she'll be in some of them =)

Our other roommates include...
Sadie, a [very large] German Shepard:
Campbell:
DB:
Elliott:
And Evie, who is not pictured because she is pretty much scared of anyone except for our roommate. Surprisingly, the cats and dogs get along very well. We love them all =)

Here is our room:

Our bathroom:
The living room:
The entertainment room:
And the kitchen:

I'm so glad we have such a great roommate and a nice place to stay. We're in a pretty quiet neighborhood near a few biking/hiking trails and we're about 10 minutes away from where we will be working. Fred Meyer, the local grocery store is less than 1 mile away, along with Chili's and about a million coffee shops. There are coffee shops and shacks literally on every corner and we're about 5 miles from Super Target and Kohls (I'm SO excited about Kohls!!!).

After getting settled in and hanging out with our new friends for a bit, we called it a night. It's crazy how tired you get just from driving!

Until next time,
Lindsey & Adam

  2. They are very friendly! I love it! We're both going to be working on the Holland-America train. It's a rail tour that goes from Anchorage to Fairbanks. Adam is going to be an excursion sales representative and I will be the chef for two train cars.
