We arose just as the sun was rising. A few kinks in our necks from the awkward positions we had to sleep in. We headed next door to McDonald's for a hot cup of coffee, used their free Wi-Fi to Skype with Adam's parents, upload Monday's blog then hit the road, destination: Ft. Collins, Colorado.
We drove through Kansas for about seven hours. Luckily, the speed limit in Kansas is 75 and there was hardly anyone on the road except for a semi truck every once in a while. I passed a state trooper who was going around 50 miles ah hour, but caught up with me just to see if I was wearing my seat belt. But later, we were passed by a state trooper going at least 120. Crazy.
We stopped at a rest area around 12:30 to picnic and saw our first sign of wildlife... Bunnies. Two of them. I tried taking a picture but they ran away from me =(
Hundreds of fields, wind turbines, pastures and run down gas stations later, we crossed into Colorado. It only took us a couple of hours to get to Denver, where we drove around for about 20 minutes looking around then parked downtown. We got on our bikes and rode around, looking for a place to get some grub.
We stopped at a place called Rocky Mountain Diner.
They had some pretty cool... decorations.
Adam got a Santa Fe burger in a tortilla. Tasted like a taco to me, but whatever. I got chicken wings, because everything else on the menu was weird.
After we left the diner, we rode around for about 20 minutes, waiting for Becca to get out of class then headed up to Ft. Collins. We arrived at her super cool apartment around 8:30. It was really good to see her, since we hadn't seen her since December. For those of you who don't know, Becca is one of my best friends who I grew up with and went to school with.
Random fun fact, we're only 9 days apart. Anyway, we got showers and headed over to her friend Matt's house to watch a rock climbing video and hang out for a bit. We went back to her apartment around midnight and passed out.
Until tomorrow,
Lindsey and Adam
