After a little nap, we started driving again. We crossed over into the Yukon, where we didn't see many animals because they were just introduced to the area 50-60 years ago. The population isn't as high since it's not their natural habitat.
We stopped at an educational pull off area. They had some interesting signs...
We drove for about 5 hours before seeing signs for the Canada/Alaska border. We got our passports ready.
Then finally arrived to the border.
Getting through wasn't a problem at all. We answered a few questions and drove straight through.
There was no way we could keep driving after only a couple hours of sleep, so once we made it to Tok, Alaska, we found a place to stay for the night and take hot showers, since we hadn't bathed in 3 days (EW!!!). We looked homeless. Haha. We stayed in a small, newly built cabin for only $10 more than it would cost to set up our tent.
We were the first ones to stay in the cabin, and they were in the process of building more cabins next to the one we stayed in.
We made a new friend, Bamboo:
We took our showers, fixed ourselves a sandwich and took a nap before going on a short bike ride. There wasn't much to do in the area we were staying in, but we found a playground and decided to play on the swing set for a few minutes. Once we returned to our cabin, I tried using the internet but it wasn't a good connection. You only got 45 minutes of Wi-Fi usage for free, then you had to pay $3 an hour. Pfffft. The owner gave us a few coupons so we could have 4 hours of internet, but it was satellite and the signal sucked, so I gave up and just uploaded some photos before bed.

Love the cabin...too cute! Anxiously awaiting the next post. Love and miss you soooo much!
ReplyDeleteThose cabins are a bit of an upgrade from KOA. Theirs is only like $10 more than tents, too. I love them. I hope you get a good nights sleep. Eagerly waiting to cross the finish line on this trip with you. I've been having a marvelous time.
