We woke up around 8 a.m and had breakfast, then rode our bikes to CSU since Becca had one class. Adam and I went to Starbucks for a little while,
then met her back at campus where we hung out with a few of her friends and room mate at Ramskeller, the campus bar. Kind of weird considering CSU is a "dry campus," yet they have a bar...
Random fun fact for the day: Becca gave me these shoes this morning because they don't fit her. They're orange and I love them.
After we left campus, Adam, Becca, Reanna (her room mate) and I rode our bikes around Old Town.
We ate at a place called Beau Jo's, a locally owned gluten-free Colorado pizza joint.
They use whole wheat crust. The Colorado thing to do is to eat the pizza part, and when you're done with the pizza part, you're supposed to put honey on the crust and eat it. Sounds weird, but it was really good. It was probably the best pizza I've ever had. I had salad and a couple slices of pizza with Cajun sausage, 4 different cheeses, pepperoni and jalapenos. Om nom nommm. We all drank out of mason jars, and the salad bar was in bath tubs.
We left and got back on our bikes...
I had a mint in my mouth in that picture. Haha. We rode over to the New Belgium Brewery for our 2:30 tour. The founder of New Belgium was really big into bike riding and the whole "drive less, bike more" thing. We actually got bike straps that you put around your right pant leg to prevent it from getting stuck in the chain for free since we rode our bikes there.
Our ticket for the tour was a beer label. The guy let me keep mine for my scrapbook. He was nice and had an unkempt beard, like a hippy. Cool.
They had jewelry made out of bicycle tubes and beer cans.
Beer bottle lighting in the lobby of each building and over stair cases...
They were constantly giving out free "samples." If you ask me, they were very... generous.
Adam was happy because not only did he get his free samples, he got mine too. Beer is gross. Here is a slightly buzzed Adam...
They had cool bike paintings and other bike, uh... stuff on the walls everywhere.
We got to see how and where the beer was made. They had really cool chandeliers/ hanging ceiling art (?) made of bike wheels in the boiler room.
We saw where the beer was bottled and packaged.
I felt like I was on that Food Network show, Unwrapped. Haha. Anyway, after the hour and a half long tour, we sat down for more beer samples, a bottle cap shaped piece of orange dark chocolate and free post card to be sent out for free =)
After Adam drank all the beer samples, we had a little fun in one of the tasting rooms. I accidentally showed my real hands in my picture. =(
We all hopped back on our bikes and headed back to Old Town, where we drank the best organic iced coffee ever at a locally owned coffee shop called The Bean Cycle.
Very strong, but not burnt tasting, served with ice cubes made of coffee in a biodegradable cup made out of corn.
The coffee shop also had a library and non-profit book store, which I thought was pretty cool.
By this time it was close to 5:30, so we finished our coffee and headed back to Becca's apartment for a nap. We were pretty tired from riding our bikes everywhere. I probably wouldn't have been as tired if we were in a lower elevation area. It was hard for Adam and to breathe. We took a power nap and woke up to cold rain, which ruined our plans of either going rock climbing or bowling. We decided to stay in for the night and order Chinese (which is so much better than Florida's take out for some reason). It was supposed to snow, but didn't happen. Oh well. We had a lot of fun today. I wish we could stay longer, but we have a lot of driving to do.
Time for laundry and bed.
TTYL =)

ReplyDelete1. Went to the BeauJo's in Evergreen - om nom nommm is right! Great pizza
ReplyDelete2. I'm in love with the beer bottle lighting! Greg would NOT have to twist my arm to get me to decorate our house with that :)
3. All that exercise you are getting riding around probably makes food taste that much better. I remember thinking SPAM was the bomb diggity once...after I came back from a 15 or so mile hike!
Keep having fun, you two!
